DESIGN FOR PRINT AND WEB
Your content should demonstrate an understanding of design for print and web, which includes but is not restricted to font selection, colour selection, layouts, usability, content / content management and designing for your audience.
Your finished product should show an understanding of the role of a graphic designer in design for cross media delivery, as well as demonstrating industry standard requirements.
You will need to demonstrate an understanding of:
Stock considerations
Colour systems
Commercial costings
Your content should demonstrate an understanding of the audience, context, functions and uses of Graphic Design within the international graphic design indistries and broader creative industries.
I must consider audience and tone of voice.
What will we be designing?
- We are given a group of briefs from ISTD from previous years 2009 , 2010 & 2011. We are asked to choose 3 briefs and bring them along to the session.
- We will apply one of these briefs to design for print for web studio brief 3.
- We should make sure we try new techniques and ideas - be Ambitious also our website should be serving a purpose.
When looking at a brief you must consider:
- terminology
- what is the brief asking?
- does it make sense to you?
- what makes it a good brief?
Stay away from words like:
- connects - connects how?
- metaphorical journey - what journey?
- broadest - what do they actually want? do they know what they want?
- fascinating - fascinating to who? what defines fascinating? do they actually know?
- interesting - again, interesting means different things to different people.
"Lost our mojo"
What's the problem and why have they lost it?
